PreCare Results
Throughout the United States, workers' compensation costs are increasing dramatically and employers are continually struggling to control these costs. Sprains and strains are the leading work-related injury causing 50 million lost days per year. Health care expenses are increasing up to 20% a year. PreCare's mission is to reduce these costs and increase productivity by providing superior ONSITE ergonomic injury prevention and physical/occupational therapy services.
Our onsite services allow companies to realize a dramatic savings in direct and indirect costs for musculoskeletal injuries while at the same time increasing employee productivity. PreCare can save you $$$$$$$
ONSITE PHYSICAL THERAPY TREATMENT
Our treatment services are paid by your workers' compensation carrier. Employers are pleasantly surprised to learn there is no increase in cost to treat onsite, as opposed to a clinic based setting. In fact, treating onsite leads to early intervention which means less pain, faster return-to-work and less overall cost to the employer. These results are proven.
An onsite treatment program will not only reduce costs associated with work-related injuries, but additional benefits include:
- Potentially serious injuries are treated early
- Injured workers are returned to work faster
- Number of treatments per case is reduced
- Re-injury rates are dramatically reduced
In 2006, patients treated by PreCare received an average of 7.4 treatments prior to discharge, compared to the National average of 15 treatments - a 53% reduction. PreCare's claim cost per patient averaged $851 using the onsite treatment model, compared to the national average cost of $1,829 -- a 53% savings, or $978 per patient.
INJURY PREVENTION SERVICES
Our services are designed to reduce the direct and indirect costs associated with musculoskeletal injuries. Treatment is customized based upon the employee's specific work tasks. The therapist assists with developing functional job tasks and continuing education for injury prevention. This expedites recovery, improves productivity, and minimizes re-injury.
If an employee suffers a work-related injury, workers' compensation and medical costs may represent only a portion of the actual cost of the injury. Indirect costs that may be incurred include the loss of experienced workers, training of replacement staff, lost production and impaired quality control. These indirect costs can cause the total cost of the claim to be up to four times that of the direct expense.
We achieve these savings by:
- Minimizing lost productivity
- Decreasing medical expenses
- Preventing injuries from occurring
- Identifying potentially serious injuries early before a claim is made
- Working with safety and health so prevention becomes a company culture
